Summary:
- The Artemis I mission involves sending an uncrewed Orion spacecraft around the Moon as a test flight for the Artemis program, which aims to return humans to the lunar surface.
- As part of this mission, NASA is sending seeds from several tree species, known as "moon trees," to orbit the Moon aboard the Artemis I spacecraft.
- These moon trees will be cared for by "moon tree stewards" after the mission, who will monitor the growth of the trees and compare them to control trees that remained on Earth, to study the effects of space travel on plant life.
