• Punahou School teacher, Cynthia Ching, has been awarded the Presidential Innovation Award for Transformational Teaching for her work in developing a board game called "Go." The game aims to teach students critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills while exploring the history and culture of the ancient game of Go.

• Ching's inspiration for creating "Go" came from her own experiences as a student, where she found traditional teaching methods to be less engaging. She wanted to develop a more interactive and immersive learning experience that would capture students' attention and foster a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

• The "Go" board game has been implemented in Punahou School's curriculum, and Ching has also shared the game with other educators, who have found it to be an effective tool for teaching a wide range of subjects, from history and social studies to mathematics and computer science.
