Kandace Florence, 28, of Virginia Beach, had been staying at the Airbnb with high school friend Jordan Marshall, 28, also of Virginia Beach, along with Marshall's friend Courtez Hall, relatives told NBC News and affiliate WAVY of Portsmouth, Virginia."It's pretty disheartening at this point, the lack of response that we've received from the U.S. Embassy," Jennifer Marshall, Jordan Marshall's mother, said on Wednesday from the family's home in Virginia Beach."It's just very disheartening that we've had to piece together, as to the demise of our son, based on social media report, based on investigative journalists but this is where we are at this point."The Mexico City attorney general’s office did not immediately respond to a request from NBC News early Wednesday morning for an update on the investigation into the cause of death.She continued: "But we never tired to deter our son from living his best life and experiencing other cultures."
