The family of the D.C. Public Library special police officer who was fatally shot during a training course in August is frustrated by the decision not to release video of what happened. In the denial, General Counsel & FOIA officer J. Kevin Mcintyre stated in part that “the release of the video could potentially interfere with the responses of witnesses who are testifying in the grand jury.”The family are also calling for metal detectors to be installed at libraries.“For the family, nothing that we do will ever bring their daughter back.So for them, this is sort of an exercise and being able to hold Mr. Porter responsible and for them to be able to ensure that no other family has to deal with what they’re going through losing their daughter for something so senseless,” Lewis said.“The walk is (for) family, friends — whoever can join us.”The memorial walk is at 10 a.m. and will begin and end at the library after circling the block."
