Trevor Noah announced his departure from The Daily Show surprising his own key producers and agents including Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish and Chris McCarthy CEO of MTV Entertainment Group.Matthew Belloni reported that Noah had lunch with McCarthy the day before the news and made no mention of leaving.However, McCarthy secretly extended it for three more years, with a series of options possibly extending it until 2025.One possibility that was placed on table was to shoot four episodes in three days, or have particular contributors take over the nights here and there.He chose to keep a supportive relationship as he is also involved in the production joint venture to adapt his best-selling novel Born a Crime as a film, an animated feature, a podcast, and additional TV projects."
